The only reason this antebellum house still stands is because of Judah P. Benjamin. Jewish Confederate leader, who after the war had a bounty on him. He eventually escaped the country, studied law in England and became an English magistrate. But because he once stayed in this house the Daughters of the Confederacy completely restored it! Last photo is of the original Confederate flag...not what you thought, right?
