Green and Lovely

We spent the day navigating narrow, twisting roads and were rewarded by lush vegetation and incredible mountain vistas. We had a few wrong turns and GPS clitches, but we arrived at our final destination for the night, Mayaguez, before dark as we had planned.

Though we recognized much of the vegetation from Florida, there were many new varieties for us. One we really liked was a fern tree. It has delicate leaves like a fern but with a trunk that can grow up to 30 feet. We also saw tons of ferrel chickens and no less than 30 dogs, most relaxing in the road, seemingly surprised to have a car come by. We were definitely on the road less traveled. There was a cow in the road and we passed by a man shaving a horse.

The homes lining many of the roads had zero front property and the back of the house balanced precariously on stilts.
