After landing, our first stop was old town San Juan (the historic city center). We passed by throngs of cruise boat tourists but we had this place virtually to ourselves. Well...technically there were TONS of other people there. We were at the Santa Maria Cemetary situated just outside the city wall. The tombs were all above ground vaults, most large enough to accommodate a whole family, and many with bigger than life monuments. The detail was stunning. The last photo is an entire wall of vaults. Though he skittered out of sight before we could snap a photo, we saw our first gecko there.
