Civil Rights Museum

I actually had someone meet me at the gate in Memphis...that doesn't happen much anymore! Sara and I rendevouzed right on schedule and picked up our red rental car.

First stop was The Lorraine Motel infamous spot of Martin Luther King Jr's assassination and home of the Civil Rights Museum. Again I was struck with the unfair suffering and courage of the people standing up to bring change. I was also touched by the final speech by MLK who because of the threats on his life actually said that though he probably wouldn't be around to see it, one day the Negroes would see the Promised Land. He was in Memphis to show support for the garbage men's strike. The publicity of his death helped bring the change.
