South Mountain, Phoenix
Coincidentally Wyndham recently purchased a resort in Phoenix adjacent to the South Mountain Park Reserve, the largest urban park in the country. The resort is being refurbished, but it is due to open soon. I pulled some connections at work and "voila" we are spending our last night there. The first photo is right outside the back door of our unit. Funny...at home this would look like a neglected yard, but here it is a lovely view. Generally speaking, all of the areas of Arizona we have visited had this in common: only rare grass lawns or ground cover. If you want it, you have to irrigate constantly. But you kind of get used to it and enjoy a different kind of beauty in what grows naturally in this climate. We took a walk through the reserve and caught our last sunset. To give you some idea of scale, the lines you see on the mountain are trails.
