Barcelona Day 2

Sept 9
Our day started early with a croissant from the bakery next door. We were on our way to Tibidabo, a location on the outskirts of town in the mountains, reached by a funicular. Thanks Brenda for the tip about this.
There is an unusual amusement park up there, but we went to see the church located at the highest point affording us an amazing view. It was not an old church but unusual, lovely and welcoming. A large statue of Jesus with arms spread open is at the pinnacle. The view gave us a great perspective on the size of the city.
We met an American couple who we talked with for a while. He was fluent in Spanish because he lived here in the 60's for a few years. He was telling us about changes the economic classes since those days when Franco ruled.

This location provided some amazing views of Barcelona and the surrounding area! Look closely at the 3rd photo and you will find Mary. The last photo, the building blocks, is one of many "Quid pro quo" things we did throughout the trip that I wish we would have done more of. It would have been great to have such photos from each and every place we visit!
